An Operating System is the basic software which controls a computer system. It takes care of how the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between applications, plus the prioritization of applications if multiple ones run at once. Each and every program that's installed on a desktop or a laptop functions by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be done via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what controls a web hosting server and all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for example a VOIP or a game server. If there are virtual machines created, they use a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we provide all three of them rather than just 1 since we realize that you might want to set up some software which has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're various software programs you may install on the web server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and that's why we offer several Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you need. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a wider choice with regard to the system environment on the server as different applications could have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and enjoy a stable and safe hosting service. Depending on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also upgrade the OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
